What is Web to Print?

Since Web to Print has not been defined in a strict manner, we created our own definition. Vit2Print defines Web to Print as:

"Applications that optimize prepress activities by taking place via the internet"

All software or applications that have something to do with the worldwide web and printing are thus Web to Print solutions.

Most of the Web to Print solutions are based on the standard composition engines Indesign Server, Quark Xpress server or PDF Lib. Those engines are then addressed to personalise business printing, preserving corporate identity & design, print-on-demand, applications, etc.

The main reasons for starting to use Web to Print solutions is the substantial amount of time and production costs it saves.

Can I use Web to Print?

Yes! Everybody is able to contribute to the printing process if they have a web browser. Therefore, no extra software is required. Moreover, specialized IT knowledge (e.g. scripting) is not necessary.
