The Swedish group distributes also graphical consumer goods for flexible print. Miller Graphics builds a close relationship with brand owners by offering services to fulfil their specific packaging needs. The company spends additional attention to the use of new technologies to be able to reduce the time-to-market for the customer.

The Belgian establishment of Miller Graphics in Roeselare counts on the Vit2Print software to realize this objective. Miller Graphics has adapted the Vit2Print software to the house style of the group, and offers the software to brand owners through their website.

One of the customers of Miller Graphics is a company specialised in frozen vegetables. “For this brand owner we design flexible packaging”, says Stefaan Herman, technical production manager of Miller Graphics in Roeselare.

Time consuming challenge

“In het past this was a time-consuming challenge. Our task is namely to deliver the multilingual packaging.” With TransVit, Miller Graphics has managed to reduce the time-to-market of the packaging significally, without making concessions as regards the high quality standards.

In the past the customer sended the different language versions in a Word-document. This often caused problems, because the prepress department of Miller Graphics needed to import or type the text over in the lay-out. Often they needed to make text adjustements too.  Afterwards, the correction rounds followed, and each language version of a text circulated in a separate PDF document.

Faster and less complex

“This process was really time consuming and expensive”, explains Stefaan Herman. “TransVit solves this problem by removing the complexity.” The graphic designer of Miller Graphics doesn’t longer need to type over the text. TransVit puts the translations immediately on the right place in the document, in the right font, in the right corps, etc.

Using TransVit has ended the constant mailing back and forth of large PDF-files. Even more, in the future Miller Graphics wants to ask the brand owners to verify all language versions online and to make the necessary modifications in the CorrectVit application. The modifications are then immediately displayed in the lay-out. In the mean time, the lay-outers can keep on working on the design of the document. This shortens the lead time too.

“In the future this advantage will only increase, because the tendancy is to choose smaller packaging and with the text in an increasing number of languages.” In the mean time the Miller Graphics Group examines which advantages the establishment in Roeselare realizes with Vit2Print.” Miller Graphics has fortheen establishments in seven European countries”, says Stefaan Herman. “We expect that other establishments of the group will start with Vit2Print too.”
